Feels Like Home by Chantal Kreviazuk

Now that we are settled in, I thought I'd share with you some pictures of our house! Hubs and I have worked hard to make it feel like home. I'll start with the open concept living room, dining room, and kitchen. We've kept it mostly neutral so that we can add color for different seasonal decorations. I love how its all turned out!

Next up will be bedrooms!

Smoke Break by Carrie Underwood

Sometimes you just need a weekend at home. And that's for the most part what we did. We put up our feet and watched tv, filled up the kiddie pool for Emma and Bentley to play, ordered a pizza, cleaned up the house, got groceries, and just relaxed. Just what we needed before friends come visit this week and a possible getaway this coming weekend!

I'm really ready for cooler temperatures. I hate wishing for the next thing to come and not live in the moment, but I don't love humid 80 and 90 degree weather all the time. Its just dang hot. I'm ready for 60s and 70s. That's my ideal temperature. So yes, I'm ready for fall. Call me a basic white girl, but its my favorite season, it leads to the holidays, and its full of apples, pumpkins, football, hoodies, and boots. Not that I don't love summer, because I do, but its that time at the end of August, beginning of September that I'm ready. Same thing happens at the end of winter. So first outfit picture is what I want to wear (and honestly can around the house because our AC works very well), but the second picture is what I actually wore to go to the dog park and get groceries.
Oversized scarf: Old Navy / Jeans: American Eagle / Shoes: Toms

Bentley doesn't care to go swimming, but he'll do anything with his little sis

Water baby!

Playing with daddy!

Come on mom, sit down with me!

So excited for pizza!

When it cools down, we'll be back here all the time. Poor pup got hot quick! But he loved running after the ball and getting out to smell the smells. And when it cools down there will be a lot more dogs at the park!

Beat This Summer by Brad Paisley

Last night was a fun Friday night! After hubs got home from work, we got ready and went to dinner. We were at Ruby Tuesday's at about 5:00 so there were few people there, which was great when Emma was getting restless in her high chair and wanted to run around between the tables. She sits well when we're eating and feeding her as well, but crayons don't keep her attention for very long when she's not eating. She typically dots the paper they give her, which is a big step in the right direction from trying to eat the crayons, but that isn't nearly as fun or time consuming as coloring which she hasn't caught on to quite yet. So while we waited for dessert she smiled at the waitresses, pointed at all of the paintings on the wall, and walked through all of the different seating sections. Then she was more than willing to sit again for a few bites of ice cream! After dinner we went to a Music in the Park event. They had a cover band based out of St Louis come play, however it had sprinkled rain for 5 minutes right before it started, so there were not a lot of people when we got there. Luckily there was a playground in this park, so we decided to go play and listen to the music from there. A few more families joined us, so Emma enjoyed playing with some of the kiddos. It was enjoyable for all of us.

Hubs ordered this top for me online. I'm not sure if was advertised as a dress, but he bought it thinking it was. When it arrived, he looked at it and said to me, well you have leggings you can wear with it right? Haha! He's so sweet and I told him I'd definitely make it work because it is really cute! So last night I paired it with white jeans and even got a compliment when we were at the park.
"Tunic length dress": Forever 21 / Jeans: Old Navy / Flats: Old Navy

Navy blue and white!

How cute is she in the buffalo check?

Happy (belated) National Dog Day!

Loving mozzarella sticks!

Like father like daughter :)

Playing at the park! It makes me happy when she plays with musical things!

Fun smiles with my girl

And how cool is this? Hubs is a pretty good artist, but hasn't done any drawing in quite some time... ya know busy with medical school and residency. But he wanted to buy a sketch book and some pencils so he could draw again now that he has some more free time. And the first thing he wanted to draw was his girls. Love him!

Burning House by Cam

Its been a pretty productive week and I am so ready for the weekend. Yesterday I ran errands, did a few loads of laundry, and tidied up things that needed to be put away. Now my to do list is much shorter and will hopefully be non existent by the end of the day! I'm not sure if this weekend will be hot or rainy, because my weather app says both and it keeps changing. If its not raining tonight, we'll go to a Music in the Park event. Otherwise we'll finish putting together the guest room. I've ordered a rug that should arrive today and we bought a bookshelf to replace a broken bookshelf headboard that needs to be put together. We don't have a headboard, but I think it'll be fine without one for now. And that's all we have planned. I'm sure we'll either fill up our kiddie pool or go to the pool at some point. We have friends staying with us this coming week so we'll probably save most of our fun for then!

I put this outfit together for a playdate at the library. Jeans are always my go to, so I like to switch it up with colorful skinny jeans or a skirt. But skirts aren't always the greatest idea when wrangling the small child, so pants usually win.
Shirt: Old Navy / Mint skinny jeans: American Eagle / Shoes: Target / Earrings: Old Navy / Watch: Coach

She had so much fun at the library! They had a little mommy and me music class too that we participated in. I love taking her out to do fun kid things!

Talk Of The Town by Pretenders

Moving from Joint Base Lewis McChord to Fort Leonard Wood is a big change. JBLM is located in Tacoma, WA which is just south of Seattle and therefore a heavily populated area with lots to do. There are beautiful mountains and the puget sound for hiking and outdoor fun, there is plenty of shopping and incredible restaurants to enjoy, it is a mecca for successful businesses including Starbucks, Nordstrom, Amazon, and Microsoft, they have successful sports teams like the Seahawks, and the most mild weather from winter to summer. Fort Leonard Wood is in a small town, St. Robert, MO, which succeeds as a military town. So since we enjoyed JBLM so much, a few friends have reached out to see how we're doing at FLW. Well honestly, its been great! I was lucky enough to have met a girl at JBLM who was also moving to FLW, for the second time, so she has been a great connection! She has introduced me to a few other moms in the area and given me recommendations on things to do around here. There are always things to do with kiddos to get out of the house like going to playgrounds, pools, and taking the dog to the park. We've also had multiple visitors to keep us busy. And a house to unpack and organize. We've also found fun things going on like the Cole Swindell concert and today, a donut truck from a fantastic bakery in Springfield came to town. Emma and I stood in line (in the 90 degree plus humidity heat) for an hour, but we got a dozen super fun gourmet donuts! They were definitely worth it. So we've really enjoyed our time here so far!

That friend who has introduced me to things around here also recently became a Lu La Roe consultant! So of course I went to her party this past weekend and bought a few things. This Randy top is one of them! Its the most comfortable clothing ever!
Top: Lu La Roe / Jeans: Old Navy / Shoes: Walmart / Earrings: a gift from Hubs / Watch: Coach

We're both wearing butterflies!

The Emergency Donut Vehicle, from Hurt's Donuts!

Look at those dozens ready to go!

Oh my goodness, they look delicious!

And I had to include this one! We found a Bentley twin at Lowe's with a welcome sign. So yes, now he can greet you outside and inside the house :)

Middle Of A Memory by Cole Swindell

Sunday started out like any other day, we got up when we wanted, had breakfast, then went outside to play. Hubs decided he wanted to go to Lowe's so we all got in the car and headed out in our pajamas. When we got back, we had lunch, Emma took a nap while I got showered and dressed and hubs did yard work. Then I went to my friend's LuLaRoe launch party while Hubs hung out with Emma. When I got back we had a quick dinner because we had a concert to go to! We got to see Cole Swindell!!! He came to Fort Leonard Wood to give a free concert to the troops in the middle of his tour. It was so awesome!!! We sat out on the lawn among many families with young kiddos, and Emma got to run around and dance while we listened to the awesome country singer. Definitely one of the best kind of summer nights!!!

Plaid shirts are always appropriate for a country concert. I just got this one from the JCrew outlet! I don't own cowboy boots, so I went with my new Sperry's instead. I was comfortable running after Emma and fit right in with the crowd.
Top: JCrew / Jeans: Old Navy / Shoes: Sperry's

Hubs turn to run after Emma :)

We had an awesome night!

Cole put on a great show!!! Thanks for coming to Fort Leonard Wood! We made an awesome memory :)

Round Here by Florida Georgia Line

This weekend we were able to do a little exploring of our new town. After a day of yard and house work on Saturday, we met up with a friend of ours from residency who also happens to be working at this post. We found a local BBQ restaurant and enjoyed the Kansas City style that is most common here. Afterwards we drove down the road to an old Western looking town store front. It is known as "Uranus, MO" and we were told they are trying to make it its own little town. So we decided to check it out. They have a fudge factory and general store that we were most interested in, as well as a sports bar, tattoo parlor, and a few other things. Its really random but now we know what its all about. If you like fudge or taffy though, they have quite a few flavors!

Like I said in my last post, I love to wear basics that have little details. Well lately lace is everywhere and a great way to take something plain and make it more interesting. I found this top at Loft and wish I'd bought it in more colors! But I bought this color with the intention that it'll be a great transition piece into fall... and I may have plans for family photos in this color scheme :)

She was enjoying her animal crackers lol

Hubs likes to coordinate with us too!

Welcome!

Gross saying, but good fudge lol

Whatever She's Got by David Nail

Ahhh the weekend. Hubby is home, we can relax, get things done around the house, and go out and do whatever we want. And that's pretty much our plan. We're going to tackle cleaning the closets that we shoved things into so that things were put away or out of the way and mow the lawn. Then we have plans to meet a friend for dinner. Sunday, I'll be attending a LuLaRoe launch party for a friend who's just become a consultant. Other than that it'll be pretty relaxed and we can just hang out. And of course watch the closing ceremonies of the Olympics!

I wore this outfit for a play date and to run errands. I just got the top at the outlets this week. I like keeping my outfits simple, so I love little details like the lace on the shoulders. It also fit just right. Plus it was on clearance, so no brainer, right?! It paired perfectly with my purple skinny jeans too.

Top: Banana Republic / Pants: Delia's / Sandals: Target

Emma's dress is from Old Navy

Are they not the sweetest? Bentley loves his little sister!

I also wanted to share this picture. As an Army family, we have moved a few times. I was looking for artwork to put above our bed and decided it would be a great place to do a state wall. Hubby is from Ohio, I'm from New York, we met in Pennsylvania, moved to West Virginia for medical school, then to Washington for residency at our first Army post, and now to Missouri. There are hearts over the places where we lived in those states. The top middle print says, Home is wherever I'm with you. That couldn't be more true as we move around the country.
[All prints are from Paper Finch Design, a shop on Etsy.]
